Mental Health & Wellbeing

Theatre Workshops

The New Year brings you a wonderful new workshop from &Scene Theatre Co. As well as providing our existing Literary based theatre workshops, this year we are also offering our Mental Heath & Wellbeing workshop.

INTENT

Our primary intent with our Mental Health & Wellbeing workshops is to provide an engaging and alternative approach to young people’s mental health through theatrical practice. Our workshops are designed for Key Stages 1 & 2.

IMPLEMENTATION

Each KS2 workshop is focused on these specific mental health practices; displaying kindness and empathy, being physically active, being mentally present, and cultivating positive thoughts about ourselves. Throughout the workshop, students will explore voice, movement, and character whilst gaining a greater understanding of their mental health. We want students to be active and excited about theatre, at the same time learning about something important that affects us all.

Each KS1 workshop will explore the story of Izzy, a young girl who is struggling with her feelings of worry, about her schoolwork and friends. Through movement and voice sequences, students will explore their feelings and how they can show love and kindness to others.

IMPACT

Students will finish the workshops with an improved overall understanding of what mental health means and (we hope) a new love of drama and theatre practice. Workshops aim to raise students' confidence, and public speaking skills, as well as getting them talking about their mental health and showing kindness/ support to others is another key factor to our mission at &Scene.

Example Workshops
